It's that time again

I'm off on another jaunt around a forest, where walking boots, rain mac/gaiters and a rucksack are the attire. The real country girl in me can just relax, whilst getting those 10,000 steps a day in. I don't have to worry about what I look like or how I act, for the one I'm spending time with accepts my natural, random self wholeheartedly.

We talk shite, laugh, appreciate the quiet and we both take pictures of ourselves acting silly and the surroundings to compare later, usually looking for any anomalies that seem to follow us on any trip we take. The last one we caught was a bit freaky, but we've come to accept such silent encounters.

Anyhoo, whatever your plans are for this weekend, if you’re ready to do something you’ll regret on Monday, go forth and divulge, you have my blessing.

Besties

A best friend is the one person that doesn't leave you worse off by their actions or yours, if there's trouble they'll always have your back. A true best friend may get you into trouble, but they will always be there to pull you out of it too.

My bestie has been in my life for 34yrs, there's not a lot we haven't been through together. We used to go clubbing (drinking shit tons and dancing like lunatics) every weekend, flirting with guy's to get drinks, invites to other dance events and the traditional after club food (usually kebabs lol). But if thing's got a a little hairy and we felt uneasy, the doormen that we gotten to know would help us.

We've been through life and death, sorrow and joy, living and learning and our bond is stronger than ever before. We know when something is bothering the other, we still enjoy the same things albeit different to our 20's (gym, paranormal/conspiracy theories, history, visiting different places) but most of all, our friendship is so authentic and natural (some have mistaken us for 'partners').

If you are lucky enough to have someone in your life like this, hold onto them like they're fcukin oxygen!!

This crazy world will throw all manner of shite at you at times, people will come and go as they please, families will fall out. But if you have a bestie by your side to help get you through it, nothing else matters.

Rich or Poor?

Being jealous of another because of their character (not bank balance), means you need to work on making you proud of yourself. The jealousy dissipates when you work on you, do you, love you, celebrate you and as you become more, you will begin to attract more opportunities and the right people will start to appear more in your life. You’ll be too much for some people, but guess what? Those aren't your people.

Through my life I've been taught the way you treat people says who you are as a person, not the balance you have in your bank account. You could be a millionaire financially, but a penny pincher with your emotions, which will not serve you well in later life.

Reading

I love learning, fact. I failed miserably at school and college, using the time to chase and be chased. It's now in my later years I've discovered a passion for learning new thing's and although some don't see the point, I'm filling my noggin with information that even I would've eye rolled at a decade ago.

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends, they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors and the most patient of teachers. Reading is an escape and the opposite of escape, it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination, after a day that's all too real.

The best moments in reading are when you come across something; an aha moment, a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things which you had thought special and particular to you. Now there it is, set down by someone else, a person you've never met, someone even who is maybe no longer here. It's is as if a hand has come out and taken yours.

It's also a great way to distract your mind from your aching body, after overdoing thing's at the gym.....again.

Today's Exploration....Holkham Hall

It's a funny thing about life, once you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack.

Reconnect to what makes you happy and brings you Joy. If there is something that used to make you happy which you have stopped doing, do it again.

Seek to find deeper meaning and significance rather than living on the surface.

I used to hate the idea if long walks in the countryside, but today I've walked 6 miles around this beautiful place. It felt like I was alone and nothing but deer, geese and other wildlife kept me company.

The only downside is my back is knackered and the sea air blasting from across the road has made me want to sleep now.

Today

People in the city think their morning is morning. Go to the countryside for real mornings, go and see what a real morning is like.

The closer you get to the countryside, the closer you get to your distant past because historically you came from the countryside and the closer you get to the places you exist, the more peaceful you feel...fact!

This morning I visited not one, but two historical sites; Creake & Binham Abbey's in Norfolk. Blown away by their age, history and architecture.

It was made even more atmospheric by the sky, the sun playing peek-a-boo with the clouds. Not going to lie though, it was chuffin cold but so so peaceful.

H.A.P.P.Y

It's been a testing start to the year, but this weekend has really helped me to forget what has happened and look at what is coming. I've realised all I need is within me and those around me, nothing else is needed.

Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important. Capture the good times and if things don't work out, just take another shot.

Good times are a reminder and a reward for dealing with the difficult and challenging times we all go through. The trick is to celebrate the good times in advance of the difficult times.

There must be bad times in order to appreciate the good ones, good times almost always await you after the difficult times pass.

Never waste any amount of time doing anything important when there is a sunset outside that you should be sitting under or watching, like this surreal looking one today (Wednesday 6th March).

There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free. Don't miss so many of them by doing mundane stuff, make the time to view them especially when as beautiful as this (pictures do it no justice).

The Weekend

People have a famously soft spot for pigs. Intelligent, inquisitive, imperious, myopic, sociable, gluttonous, grunting, ungainly, it's quite easy to recognise ourselves in them lol.

But oh my god do they stink!! This weekend I visited St.Andrews ruins and then the beach at Covehithe, beautifully desolate and only accessible through a pig farm.

After what seemed like an eternity of sludging mud and gagging stench, the beach complete with sea foam appeared and it was SO worth it.

This place is on the top of my list for sunbathing in summer, the lack of people probably due to the neighbouring pig farm!!

Weekend Plans

Mausoleums are an alternative type of memorial, built as free standing monuments to house the remains of the deceased. This type of memorial dates back to 350BC, where deceased Egyptian kings were laid to rest in the pyramids, the greatest mausolea on earth (my personal opinion and trust me, they are surreal to see).

The point of this blog is to explain my like of all thing's dark, mysterious and architectural. I am off to Brandon Country Park over the weekend, where Edward Bliss and his wife were placed. They have since been moved, however the tales of possible haunted activity still remain and I do love all thing's paranormal too.

Plus it's a great excuse to scout for potential secluded area's for a bit of slap and tickle, when the weather improves lol.
