Since I was born, I’ve been surrounded by animals. It’s safe to say that my life has been full of both pets and furry (or scaly) friends. My connection with animals started early, and they’ve continued to be a constant part of my life, both as companions and in my work as a pet care provider.
Early Companions
Before I was even born, my parents had rescued a lurcher, and we had him until I was 4 years old. Although I don’t remember much about him, I know he was an important part of our family in my early years. Around the same time, my half-sister had a hamster, so it was a busy house with pets from the start!
As a child, our family adopted a rescue cat named Billy. He was ginger with patches of white, and his personality was as bright as his fur. Alongside Billy, we also had two rabbits—one named Mimi, who belonged to my half-sister, and another named Bella, who was our family rabbit. These pets made my childhood feel complete, giving me so many moments of joy and responsibility.
Unusual Pets
Not all of our pets were the usual cuddly kind. When I was around 10-12 years old, my half-sister briefly had a corn snake. While I wasn’t exactly hands-on with the snake, I was fascinated by it. Later on, I ventured into the world of exotic pets myself by keeping giant African land snails. I had two different species: Reticulata and Fulica snails. They were low-maintenance, but they were quite the conversation starters whenever someone came over!
Dogs: Lifelong Friends
Dogs have played a huge role in my life. In 2011, my sister got her own dog, Lola, a lively Jack Russell who’s still with us today at the age of 13. She’s spunky and full of energy, and her age hasn’t slowed her down too much. Lola’s been a family constant, and seeing her grow older has been bittersweet.
In 2017, my mum and I adopted another rescue lurcher, Skye. She was 5 when we got her, and we cherished every moment with her until she passed away in 2022 at the age of 10. Skye was a gentle, calm soul, and her passing left a big hole in our lives, but she gave us so many beautiful memories.

Standing at 5’4” with blonde hair, light blue eyes, and a few freckles, I’ve always felt a connection to nature, whether it’s walking along the coast or hiking through the countryside.
I’ve got three tattoos and a few piercings, with plans for plenty more in the future once I can afford them—there’s something so personal and expressive about body art that I love. I’m a huge animal lover, and I’ve been lucky enough to work as a pet care provider since 2018. Animals have always been a big part of my life. Like many, I’ve had my share of struggles too. Anxiety has been a part of my life for longer than I can remember, and in recent years, depression joined the mix.
