Now you can have instant messaging style sessions for as long as you like, without having to book or buy MSN/Yahoo sessions from other areas of the Site, and without having to use your own instant messaging program!

What is DirectIM?

DirectIM is a cut down version of DirectCam, the real-time webcam and chat application that allows you to cam with service providers directly and where credits are deducted depending on the duration of your session. DirectIM is simply text-based chat without accompanying video. If you want to cam and chat click here.

How does DirectIM work?

See who's available now, click here.
Click the Broadcast now, and then on the new window press the Start button. You will notice that the Broadcasting Window disappears and you will have a chat-only interface, where you can interact with your customers.

How does the billing work?

Your AdultWork.com credits account is debited automatically based on the duration of the session and the per minute rate set by the service provider for the type of session you have, (group or private). You are billed per second, not per minute and billing only starts when the server is sure that you and the service provider are connected. You should keep messages short to start with (or come via free mode) to ensure that the provider is actually ready to conduct a session.

To dispel timewasters you must have sufficient credits to conduct a minimum of a 3 minute session. Your account will be debited each minute thereafter. If the session lasts less than what you have paid for you will be refunded the difference immediately.

Do I need special software?

No. The DirectIM application uses the industry standard Flash. It should be installed already and if not, will install the first time you launch the DirectIM application, (which may cause a delay for anything to appear at first).

What is DirectIM?

DirectIM is a cut down version of DirectCam, allowing you to offer pay per minute text-based chat without needing to send any video. You can chat with individuals or groups at the rates you set. If you are a webcammer or already offering DirectCam then this is not for you.

What do I need to DirectIM?

All you need is an internet connection, and one piece of software that you can download below.

How does DirectIM work?

To set your free, group and private options and rates as well as chat style category click here or do via Edit Profile, (see the Edit Settings button where it says Offer DirectCam or DirectIM). Be sure to tick the box labelled "I wish to provide typed text-chat only" or you will be required to send video as well.
Download and install "JustCamIt" (get it here). This is the program that you will use to converse with other members.
Run JustCamIt and login using these settings.

You will now appear on the DirectIM page as available and a link will appear on your profile stating you're available for DirectIM.

What's the difference between free, private and group modes?

Free - is a shared introductory area where you can introduce yourself and vet the clients. From here you will entice them to go into one of the paid for modes.
Group - is a shared paid for area where you can chat openly with the members in your chat room. Each will be charged at the Group Rate you set.
Private - is a one-to-one private room with only yourself and one other member. They will be charged at the Private Rate you set.

Why should I offer Free Mode in DirectIM?

So members can establish that you are there and ready to have a conversation. Also, you may wish to discuss the theme of any paid for session before the client is charged for it. Clients are limited to 3 minutes in Free Mode but may re-enter.
Members are far more likely to go into Private Mode or Group Mode once they can see that you are genuine and they will have an idea as to the quality of your offering.
Members who offer Free Mode will be awarded increased exposure on the Home Page.

If I am conducting a group or private session, can anyone else enter the chat room for free?

No, the free facility will be disabled while you are in a group or private session.

Anyone trying to join the free facility will be informed that you are currently conducting a group or private session. If you are in group mode that viewer will be invited to join in.

How will I receive my credits?

Your AdultWork.com credits account will be credited at the end of the session based on the per minute rate you set for the mode used (group/private), the number of participating members and the duration of the session for each of them.

Are there any charges for me to pay?

There is a 7.5% facility fee that is deducted from your AdultWork.com credits account at the end of the session(s). This fee covers the cost of the third party technology supplier who provides the platform for the AdultWork.com Membership to conduct their chat sessions.

This is a third party cost that is outside our control, although a cost that should be viewed as insignificant given the increased revenues that are achievable by broadcasting to many clients in group mode. It would be costly software for individuals to purchase and MSN/Yahoo are unable to provide this "group service" at this point in time.

What are the benefits of DirectIM?

Members don't have to use complicated forms or messaging programs.
You don't have to deal with bookings or sale items, and no adding of people to contact lists and waiting for them to come online.
You don't need to keep an eye on the clock whilst conducting the session.
By offering this extra service you will receive more interest in your profile.
Most importantly for you, DirectIM gives you the chance to have multiple conversations (in group mode) to an unlimited number of members.

What about DirectCam?

DirectIM is meant for those service providers that do not feel confident appearing on cam. They can enter the world of real-time pay per minute chat without having to show themselves. Once ready, we would strongly encourage them to try DirectCam. It all works the same way and all you need to do is un-tick the typed text chat only box on their Settings page. When you next login to the broadcaster, your video will be sent as well.
